December 26, 2003 is a day that will always be remembered by any TVXQ fan. It is the day where South Korea received (what I like to call) their 'Christmas present'.
This is a HUGE event for any TVXQ fan anywhere! It's their 10th year in the business! This is cause for celebration! ♪┏(・o・)┛♪┗ ( ・o・) ┓♪
You all know their names--Yunho, Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu, and Changmin. You know their color--pearl red. You know their fanbase name--Cassiopeia (Korean fans) and Bigeast (Japanese fans). Even if you're not a fan, you probably know all this anyway! XD
A bit of history...
"Annyeong! Dong Bang Shin Ki imnida!" |
Their popularity exploded! They've racked up countless awards, been on numerous shows, gained thousands of fans, performed on many shows, done several tours...their acheivements just keep going! These five fine young men have done so much in this time period, it's not even funny. Of course, being recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records twice would be a strong indication of that. They've dominated in not only South Korea, but also Japan (which was extremely difficult to do when they first arrived there). Even after their split, they still manage to remain relavent. They've lately become more of a well-rounded entertainer as each of them as done roles in modeling, acting, MCing, musicals, etc. And yet they still manage to remain humble through it all. This is something that probably has made fans keep going with these men. And then let's not forget about their brotherly love that they had for each other...
But then in July of 2009, the world of Kpop was shocked to find that TVXQ (who was at the peak of their success) was going to have a mess on their hands. Three members filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment and eventually left the company. Things got worse as the the remaining two decided to stay with the company. This caused quite a division among fans that even to this day is still very much present. But while Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu have become the group JYJ and Yunho and Changmin still continue with the name TVXQ, they're all still shining brightly to this day. :D
Myndless thoughts: This is my first Kpop boyband, so ultimately it is my bias group. While I wasn't there in the beginning like some fans (I became a fan in 2007) it still feels like I've known them forever. These ten years have been hard on them, I'm sure. But I'm also sure that they're greatful for the fans who still enjoy their music. Even if they're now two seperate groups, I still reserve the name TVXQ to mean all five of them. And because this anniversary year is so special, I really do hope that they can at least come together as five to celebrate it.
Happy 10th Anniversary, TVXQ. Keep doing what you love, and I'll be sure to keep proudly fangirling about you to another ten years~! \(^o^)/
