This February just keeps continuing to be bad. Between controversies, rumors, and racism in Kpop alone, you'd think I'd be done with it all. But, I'm not. Sure, this genre comes with ALOT of drama but I'd have to say that would be because of netizens and the fandoms themselves. And with fans that are getting younger by the day, you have that sense of annoyance that older fans may feel. Some even threaten to leave Kpop because it gets to be too much. But then that makes me feel sad becuase then I'd lose more spazzing friends, and it'd be weird to bring up Kpop to them when they're not interested anymore. :x
One instance that would be a controversey involves Block B and their interview in Thailand. In short, they said a few things that got out of hand, made some netizens (and a few other celebs) a little mad, got bashed pretty hard, and the bashers then got bashed harder. That's kind of how the cycle seems to go with these things as I continue in this fandom. To be honest, it wasn't like this when I was just into anime. But then again, back in those days we didn't have Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube. So, maybe people get more and more angry with each other because of these social networks and the comments that differ so much from their own opinons? I think that's what happens to me sometimes. Man...being a celebrity in either Kpop or Jpop (maybe other places as well) is REALLY troublesome. This is why I really do hope that people will really reconsider becoming one in the future.
When it comes to the racial part of it, Kpop does need to calm it down. Just in the span of a week, there have been two spats at black/African-American people. One was in a series of racial tweets and the other was the frequently used 'black-face'. These things make me quite unhappy because I am part of the race that they talk about. This alone should make me contemplate if I should leave Kpop fandom and maybe switch back to Jpop being my primary source of music. Japan may be a little nicer, but I do remember reading somewhere that there are places where gaijins (foreigners) are not allowed. Of course, those places looked like they were mainly clubs, and I don't even go to those so I'm good. XD If anything, I think that Korea is still in the process of becoming recognized as a global country. And they are still trying to handle that responsiblity. But they better fix it fast. ^^;; So, in short...I shall not give up on Korea or Kpop yet. And hopefully, you all who are thinking about it won't give up on them yet either. My circle of Kpop friends is shrinking as is, so if anything...I hope that things will begin to chillax. :(
One more issue I bring up involves just TVXQ. I still find it really difficult to say TVXQ when it's just Yunho and Changmin. And it made me really sad to hear Yunho say that the current TVXQ is the best. I should also be upset at Junsu for saying that the happiness of the three (meaning JYJ) is best right now. It makes me wonder if they're beginning to get used to the idea of being apart like this. Ah, February was a really bad month. OTL Here's to March being better, ne?
Argh the drama and upsetting things in kpop is certainly exhausting, and makes me miss anime and jrock fandoms ^^'. I'm still here though even so xD''' it's a bit stupid of me but what can I do huhu
ReplyDeleteHmm I think Yunho is still holding on to the idea of the 5, I don't know why I just get this impression ^^! I feel like when jae tweeted something like 'I'm afraid of forgetting or being distanced from my feelings of the past', this was what he was worrying about? I'm not sure, but the idea that they still care about their bond gives me some hope about it, somehow! Fighting<3
The racism is horrible :( people need to respect black people. I can see why it makes you sad. If people know African American people, they can easily see that none fit into their cruel made up stereotypes! I admire you.. I wish kpop would realise how wrong it is.
Yes, the Kpop drama is really up there. So much is happening at once it seems. I guess it's from all the gossip sites and fabricated stories by anti-fans or sasaengs that make up for it. And, of course, gossip is what everyone likes to hear. I shouldnt exclude myself from that. ^^;; Haha...if being a fangirl and facing this kind of stuff was an actual job, I'd hope we would be paid well.
DeleteThere are days where I feel like they're hanging on to the idea of being 5 and other days where I feel that they're okay with how things are. But knowing that you have the same hope that they still care about their friendship makes things better~! ^o^
*sigh* I really do hope that S. Korea will realize how wrong blackface is. But I must admit, I didn't know it was offensive until recently. ^^;; I read from a commenter that it's kind of like others doing the 'Asian eye' thing or making fun of how Asians speak. Granted there may be a very small amount that do follow the stereotype, not everyone does it (within the stereotype that each race is given).
Oh~! Thank you for stopping by! It's really appreciated. :3
Yes ;o;
DeleteAll that part of fandom is really scary too.
Haha we'd deserve it!
Yeah me too.. it's a little confusing. I guess hope can be revived even if you lose hope, so that's what enables me to keep hoping like this (if that makes any sense OTL)
I'd never seen it done nowadays before, so it really shocked me.
Oh, that makes sense (similar to making fun of Asians)
Definitely, most south koreans aren't racist like that (definitely not like those tweets), but the media should have the responsibility not to spread these things..it seems really damaging, like giving people the idea that blackface and racist things are ok :S
It's ok! I should come back more often!
